Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, tenure-track position as Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology to begin July 1, 2017. The Department is seeking to increase its stature in research while maintaining its culture of instructional excellence. The Chair must be able to provide strong leadership and promote a powerful vision for the advancement of the Department’s mission and goals, and have an open, transparent, and participatory administrative style. The candidate should provide evidence of effective leadership, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work productively with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds. Continued activity and success in scholarship/research is expected.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

The successful candidate must possess an earned doctorate (or foreign equivalent or its equivalent in training, ability, and/or experience) in Biology or closely related field and a distinguished record of teaching, research, funding and service that merits appointment as a full professor with tenure in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology.

Departmental/College Overview:

The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology serves nearly 2,000 undergraduate majors earning the Bachelor of Science Degree in biology or biology education, and over 100 majors in environmental science. The Department serves other academic programs by providing a two course environmental science and issues sequence that fulfills the general education science requirement for non-majors as well as anatomy and physiology courses primarily for majors in the College of Health and Human Services. Faculty and staff with expertise in multiple areas all contribute to highly collaborative and interdisciplinary biology departments, and provide opportunities for undergraduate research. Graduate students in the Masters of Science in Integrative Biology follow a two-year, research intensive, thesis-based master’s program.
