Position Qualifications/Responsibilities

Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

The Department of Mathematics at Kennesaw State University is creating a pool of applicants in anticipation of future openings for part-time faculty to teach courses related to mathematics. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering lectures, developing assessments, and assessing students’ mastery of learning outcomes. Review of applications is ongoing. This position is renewable.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Master’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Mathematics or a closely related field required for Instructor; Earned doctorate, or its foreign equivalent in Mathematics or a closely related field required for professorial ranks. All applicants must have earned 18 hours of graduate level mathematics credit. Additional requirements as appropriate. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.

Application Instructions

The Department of Mathematics teaches a wide range of General Education Mathematics courses including Mathematical Modeling, College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Elementary Calculus. For applicants with sufficient credentials and experience, we also sometimes employee part-time instructors to teach courses in the calculus sequence, courses for pre-service elementary teachers, or upper division mathematics courses. The Department of Mathematics has over 50 full-time faculty members. The department offers BS degrees in Mathematics and Computational & Applied Mathematics and minors in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. The department hosts several events each year including the Kennesaw Mountain Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, and the Kennesaw State Mathematics Competition.
