Position Qualifications/Responsibilities

Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

The Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education hires part-time faculty to teach face-to-face undergraduate reading/literacy courses and reading methods, supervise and assist with field experiences, model effective teaching practices, and use instructional technology effectively. These positions are on an as-needed, per semester basis to teach traditional and non-traditional students at an on- or off-campus site.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Qualified applications must have earned at least a Master’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in elementary education or a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in reading/literacy, a commitment to working in an environment that fosters diversity and collaboration, and at least three years teaching in a P-8 classroom. Ideally, the qualified applicant will have teaching experience with children in P-5 classrooms and teaching experience in undergraduate literacy/reading courses. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.

As one of the larger departments at KSU, the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education has more than 80 full-time and part-time faculty members. The department serves over 1,500 Elementary and Early Childhood Education undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate majors. It offers programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, and doctoral levels. Its M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education is now offered both as a totally online program as well as a face-to-face option. Certification for pre-kindergarten to grade five is embedded in the undergraduate program.
