Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

Serve as the coordinator for Resource Sharing services and lead special projects for Access Services at Kennesaw State University Libraries. Also, provides reference, library instruction, collection development liaison services and related tasks related to undergraduate academic library services.
Due to Kennesaw State University’s unprecedented growth and increased funding and support for its libraries, the KSU library System seeks a new entry-level librarian who is a dynamic, collegial, self-motivated and flexible individual to serve as the Resource Sharing Services Librarian. Under the supervision of the Director of Access Service, the incumbent serves as a member of the Access Services Unit and helps guide the library to meet the challenges of today’s complex higher education library systems in lending and borrowing library materials, and is responsible for working collaboratively to achieve the KSU University and Library System missions, goals, and objectives. The Kennesaw Campus will serve as the home base for this position, but the incumbent will spend time working at all of the library system’s facilities and campuses.
Major Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Access Services of the Kennesaw State University Library System, the incumbent serves as a member of the Access Services Department and helps guide the library to meet the challenges of today’s complex higher education library organizations with an emphasis placed upon providing excellence in services. The incumbent is responsible for teaching information literacy, reference duties, liaison duties, and collection development. As the Resource Sharing Librarian, the incumbent is responsible for working with the Asst. Director of Access Services and the Circulation Manager to ensure continuous coverage of public service points and enhance the role of the KSU Libraries to support teaching /research.

Resource Sharing Librarian & Special Projects Manager for Access Services (55%)

1. Coordinate timely and efficient resource sharing services to patrons
2. Procure resources that assist students with learning, progression, and ultimately graduation
3. Provide timely access to library resources from other institutions to faculty, students and staff as well as allow non-affiliates access to KSU’s library collections
4. Support faculty teaching and research
5. Administer, analyze and disseminate resource sharing data
6. Follow best practices established by the American Library Association public services divisions
7. Develop and maintain consortia partnerships
8. Ensure that the KSU Library System adheres to all copyright clearance laws and procedures
9. Manage Library’s participation in statewide lending / borrowing programs.
10. Monitors KSU System intra-campus lending/borrowing system, including Repository materials.

General Librarianship Duties (30%)
1. Provide a broad range of reference and instructional duties as assigned, in both online and traditional environments to undergraduate students and faculty
2. Create instructional materials in multiple formats for use by undergraduate students and faculty as assigned
3. Consult with undergraduate students and faculty on individual or group-related research projects as assigned
4. Provide research assistance and reference services to undergraduate faculty, students and other members of the KSU community as assigned
5. Continuously update skills and knowledge of current best practices in academic undergraduate librarianship for self and others in the organization
6. Collaborate with other units to resolve issues impacting collections and services to undergraduate students and faculty
7. Participate in Library Liaison Program.
8. Participate in Collection Development in an assigned discipline.

Additional Responsibilities (15%)
1. Serve on library, campus, University System of Georgia and national professional committees
2. Be professionally active and contribute to developments in the field of library science and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, publications, and service
3. Assist the Assessment Librarian as necessary
4. Assist the Collection Development Librarian with collection assessment projects involving undergraduate programs as assigned
5. Embrace the library’s vision to be an organization that provides continuous learning for all staff and librarians.
6. Support concept of striving for excellence in customer service
7. Embrace Sturgis Library’s vision to be an organization that provides continuous learning for all staff and librarians
8. Work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends and at various KSU learning sites
9. Effectively and collegially facilitate the work of others
10. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Required Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or the foreign equivalent. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.
2. Knowledge of current professional library principles, methods, procedures, and best practices, especially pertaining to resource sharing and lending.
3. Familiarity with ILLiad’s Shared Serve Configuration
4. Knowledge of print and electronic academic library reference resources
5. Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate appropriately within, and outside of, the library.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple constituencies: students, instructional faculty, university staff, and librarian peers.
7. Aptitude for detailed work in addition to strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
8. Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
9. Working knowledge of office suite applications including spreadsheets.
10. Ability to meet library faculty standards for job performance, scholarship, service and professional development.
11. A strong desire to provide excellence in Library service.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Second masters in a related discipline
2. Knowledge of how assessment techniques can improve resource sharing services
3. Experience with providing academic reference services
4. Experience participating in academic library collection development.
5. Experience with academic library liaison duties
6. Experience in the creation of online tutorials or web guides
7. Knowledge of citation management programs such as RefWorks, Endnote, Zotero, etc.
8. Experience working with multicultural and international library patrons.
9. Experience with learning educational management systems such as D2L
10. Working knowledge of office suite applications, including spreadsheets
11. Creativity in problem-solving and enthusiasm for self-directed work
12. Knowledge of academic library instruction strategies
13. Awareness of emerging technologies and trends for academic libraries and resource sharing

Additional Information for Applicants

Annual salary is $47,476 FIRM and non-negotiable, with a generous benefits package.

Assistant Professor Rank is non-negotiable.
