Due to Kennesaw State University’s unprecedented growth and increased funding and support for its libraries, the KSU Library System seeks a new entry-level librarian who is a dynamic, collegial, self-motivated and flexible individual to serve as the coordinator for electronic resources and serials collection development. Under the supervision of the Director of Collection Development, the incumbent serves as a member of the Collection Development Unit and helps guide the library to meet the challenges of today’s complex higher education library, and is responsible for working collaboratively to achieve the KSU University and Library System missions, goals, and objectives. The Kennesaw Campus will serve as the home base for this position, but will spend time working at all of the library system’s facilities and campuses.

Major Responsibilities:
Electronic Resources & Serials Collection Development (40%)

1. Coordinate recommendations for new databases, electronic resources, and serial publications on behalf of the librarians.
2. Coordinate biannual database trials in conjunction with the Collection Development Advisory Group, managing communication both within and outside the library.
3. Conduct regular usage evaluation and overlap analysis of existing electronic resources and serials to recommend subscriptions or cancellations.
4. Manage the KSU Library System’s demand-driven acquisitions (DDA) program.
5. Market new database acquisitions to the KSU community in conjunction with the Strategic Marketing Committee. Create emails, literature, and marketing materials as applicable.
6. Assist the Director of Collection Development with vendor outreach and product research.
7. Create procedural documents and workflows, and recommend policies to improve library services.
8. Maintain data reports, and assist the Director of Collection Development and the Assessment Librarian with collection assessment projects as assigned.
9. Provide collection development training to library employees as needed, in conjunction with the Collection Development Unit.

Librarianship Duties (40%)
1. Serve as an undergraduate faculty liaison to assigned subject areas. Perform subject specific professional work, including library instruction to undergraduate students and faculty, outreach, and collection development.
2. Provide research assistance and reference services to undergraduate faculty and other members of the KSU community as assigned.
3. Teach information literacy classes to undergraduate students, in accordance with KSU Library System Policies, as assigned. Create instructional materials in multiple formats for use by undergraduate students and faculty.
4. Continuously update skills and knowledge of current best practices in academic librarianship for self and others in the organization.
5. Be professionally active and contribute to developments in the field of library science and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Required Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program or foreign equivalent. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.
2. Knowledge of current professional library principles, methods, procedures, and best practices, especially pertaining to electronic resources.
3. Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate appropriately within, and outside of, the library.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple constituencies: students, instructional faculty, university staff, and librarian peers.
5. Aptitude for detailed work in addition to strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
6. Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
7. Technologically proficient with a working knowledge of Office Suite applications including spreadsheets.
8. Ability to meet library faculty standards for job performance, scholarship, service and professional development.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience with academic electronic resources collection development.
2. Awareness of emerging technologies and trends for academic libraries and collection development.
3. Knowledge of research methodologies, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and statistical tools, such as SAS or equivalent.
4. Experience with academic liaison duties and/or library instruction.
5. Experience with vendor relations.
6. Creativity in problem-solving and enthusiasm for self-directed projects.
7. Awareness of emerging technologies and trends for academic libraries.

Additional Information for Applicants

Annual salary is $47,476 FIRM and non-negotiable, with a generous benefits package.

Assistant Professor Rank is non-negotiable.
