Kennesaw State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a focus on Journalism and Emerging Media in the School of Communication and Media. The selected candidate will teach journalism courses, including News Writing and Reporting, Advanced Media Writing, Multi-media Visions of Community (capstone) and other journalism courses as needed. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach Investigative Reporting and have a teaching or research interest in data journalism techniques. Teaching graduate courses is also an option.

The Journalism and Emerging Media Program, is one of three undergraduate majors in the School of Communication and Media. The program enrolls approximately 200 students per year and offers a Certificate in Multiplatform News Reporting.

Responsibilities include: teaching required and elective journalism courses, an active research agenda and performing service duties. Collegiality and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary School of Communication and Media are essential. Professional experience in journalism (print and/or broadcast) is highly desired. Faculty teach courses in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, hybrid and online.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Qualifications include a doctorate or ABD in Journalism, or related discipline, or its foreign equivalent with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and research. An ABD must have degree conferred by August 2018, prior to starting at KSU.
